How does Bitcoin compare to other asset classes over the last 10 years?

Please make sure you read our other articles on bitcoin before jumping to conclusions about the results in this chart.

There’s not really much we can say about this chart, except that bitcoin has been a seriously high-octane asset during its rookie decade. The high returns look extremely attractive, but don’t miss those two horrifying years, in 2014 and 2018. Could you have stomached those losses?

In case you missed it from our past posts, you should only ever invest in a speculative asset like bitcoin and its crypto peers if:

  1. The amount you invest is not a large proportion of your overall wealth
  2. You wouldn’t be upset if the value of your investment fell by 80% a few days after you invest
  3. You don’t need to make money from the investment
  4. You don’t need your money back in the foreseeable future

If you can’t tick all those boxes, stay away. It really is not worth the risk, trust us.
